Digitising Your Plan using Upload a Plan feature
Digitising Your Plan using Upload a Plan feature

The only way to import a plan is by using our AI recognition feature.

Updated over a week ago

⚠️ Plan recognition is only available with the Premium subscription. ⚠️

Note: Upload a plan is only available on the Web, iOS and Android platforms. However, once uploaded to your account, this project will be synced between your devices so you can continue your design on other platforms.

Creating an accurate floor plan is crucial for designing your dream space. With Planner 5D, you can easily upload your blueprint and let our AI generate your floor plan with precise dimensions. In this article, we'll guide you through uploading and digitizing your blueprint using the Planner 5D app in Web, iOS and Android apps.

Step-by-Step Guide to Uploading and Digitizing Your Blueprint on Android

  1. Open the Planner 5D app: Launch the Planner 5D app on your Android device and tap "My Projects" at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Start a new project: Click the "New Project" button and select the "Upload a floorplan" option from the list.

  3. Choose your floorplan file: Browse your device and select the file containing your blueprint (JPG/PNG/PDF format).

  4. Resize and frame the blueprint: Adjust the size of your blueprint to ensure only the relevant plan is visible within the frame. Once done, hit "Next".

  5. Set the wall dimension: You will be prompted to enter the dimension of one wall. This is a crucial step, as the rest of the plan will be generated based on the scale you've entered. Carefully input the desired dimension for the selected wall, ensuring the measurement is accurate and reflects the real-life dimensions of the space.

  6. Send the plan for recognition: After setting the wall dimension, your plan will be processed by our AI. It takes from 10 min to 24 hours to process your plan depending on the complexity.

  7. Review the generated plan: Once the AI has created your floor plan, review it to ensure all dimensions are accurate and correctly scaled.

  8. Make adjustments if needed: If you notice any discrepancies in the generated floor plan, you can adjust the dimensions or scale as needed.

Step-by-Step Guide to Uploading and Digitizing Your Blueprint on iOS

  1. Open the Planner 5D app: Launch the Planner 5D app on your iOS device and tap "My Projects" at the bottom of the screen.

Once done, hit "Select photo" to send the plan for recognition.

Step-by-Step Guide to Uploading and Digitizing Your Blueprint on Web

Use the Upload plan button in the upper menu and browse the file with your plan. Note that the file shouldn't exceed 8192x8192px. It takes from 10 min to 24 hours to process your plan depending on the complexity as well as on the existing queue.

Make sure to follow these guidelines to get the best result:

  1. Our AI can only process JPG/PNG/PDF formats;
    We won't accept and process other formats at the moment. However, you can always take a screenshot of the plan in a different, unsupported format. But make sure the screenshot is under 8192x8192px.

  2. Your plan should be clearly visible;
    If you're uploading a photo of a printed plan, check if there's enough light so the plan is easily readable.

  3. If you're uploading a photo of a paper-based plan that has been folded – we cannot guarantee great results;

  4. Your plan should have dimensions in it.
    Otherwise, we won't reproduce the plan keeping the desired dimensions.

  5. Your plan can have furniture in it;
    However, our AI will recognise and place only basic furniture like a bed, bathroom, tables, doors, etc. AI might not be able to identify and place, let's say, a fridge to your plan.

Important Tips for Best Results:

  • Your plan should be clearly visible with enough light for easy readability.

  • Avoid using folded paper-based plans, as they may not yield accurate results.

  • Include dimensions in your plan, as our AI relies on them for accurate reproduction.

  • Your plan can have furniture, but our AI may only recognize and place basic items (e.g., bed, bathroom, tables, doors).

If you're unsatisfied with the result, don't hesitate to contact our Support team with the original file you've uploaded, the link to the digitalized plan you've received, and your comments on what's missing. With this information, we can fix any issues for you.
