What is a Project?

Updated today

Projects are the main item of organization in Planpage. Think of each one as a digital binder for a specific wedding or event. Whether you're planning a black-tie wedding, a milestone birthday, or a corporate holiday party, each event gets its own dedicated Project.

The Project Sidebar

Planning and project management tools are accessible from within a Project. Pictured below is the Project Dashboard with the Sidebar highlighted. Navigate the various planning tools in the Sidebar.

How Projects are Organized

Events

A Project contains one or more Events. You can add and remove them as needed. For example: Allison & Ryan's Wedding contains three Events:

  • Ceremony & Reception

  • Rehearsal Dinner

  • Brunch

Staff Members & Contacts

Within each Project, designate who is involved by adding them to the Project. This is done on the Collaborate page.

1) Staff Members. If your company has multiple planners assistants, etc., add whoever will be working on the Project.

2) Wedding Couple. If the Project is a wedding, there will be two slots for the couple. You can link each slot to a Contact record in Planpage.

3) Clients & Contacts. This section is for adding additional Contacts to the Project. In the screenshot above, Ashley Benson (Maid of Honor) was added to the Project. You can add parents, bridal party, etc. It's up to you! This is also where you'll manage the Client Portal.

Vendors

Projects contain Vendors. Pictured below is the Vendors page within a Project.

1) Status. Each vendor has a Status that can be updated as planning progresses. This lets you and your clients know where you're at in the booking process for a vendor.

2) Categories. Specify one, or many, Categories this vendor will be servicing for a specific Project. You could have one Vendor in multiple Projects, and their Categories could be different within each individual Project.

Categories

Some examples of a Category are: Venue, Catering, Floral, Bar & Beverage.

Each Project is unique and will have its own Category requirements. To manage them, navigate to the Categories page.

Planning Tools

Within a Project, your planning and project management work is done inside the various Planning Tools (Tasks, Timelines, Mood Boards, Guest List, etc.).
