Project Types Overview

Updated today

What is a Project Type?

Some common examples are: Wedding, Birthday Party, Baby Shower, Holiday Party, and Corporate Retreat.

When creating a Project, you're required to select its Project Type from a dropdown list. Once set, it cannot be changed (contact us if you need it updated). When creating a Lead, you'll also have to specify its Project Type.

Customize your company's Project Types

Only the account Owner and Admins can customize Project Types.

In the Sidebar, click Settings. Then Project Types.

Your Planpage account comes with some default Project Types. We recommend you add, edit, and delete them to better match your company.

Wedding vs. Non-Wedding

When creating a new Project Type, you'll be asked Is this Project Type for a wedding?

Projects assigned to a Wedding Project Type will have wedding related elements such as:

  • The Couple: You can define their roles (Bride, Groom, Partner, etc.), and link them to contact records.

  • Wedding Roles: Guests can be given wedding roles (Maid of Honor, Best Man, Mother of The Bride, etc.)

Projects assigned to a Non-Wedding Project Type don't have any wedding related elements. For example, you can still assign roles to guests and contacts, but instead of a dropdown list of wedding roles, you can type the role.

In your company's list of Project Types, Wedding types have the rings icon.

The "Other" Project Type

"Other" is a Planpage default and cannot be edited or deleted. It serves as a catch-all for Projects that don't fit into your defined Project Types. We're still deciding if it should be able to be edited and/or deleted. Have some thoughts? We'd love to hear them!
