Item Breakdowns give planners a more detailed way to organize the moments inside a timeline item.
Instead of squeezing extra details into a note, you can add a structured mini schedule directly within the item. For example, a “Hair & Makeup Starts” item can include individual timing for the bride, wedding party, and family members. A “Processional” item can include an ordered sequence of who walks when, without requiring exact times for every person.
This keeps your main timeline clean while still giving your team, vendors, and clients the level of detail they need. Whether you’re building out hair and makeup schedules, ceremony orders, transportation pickups, or other step-by-step moments, Breakdowns help turn a high-level timeline into a clear, usable plan.
Timed Breakdowns vs. Ordered Lists
When adding a breakdown, you can choose between a Timed Breakdown or an Ordered List.
Use a Timed Breakdown when each row needs its own time. This is best for mini schedules inside a larger timeline item, such as hair and makeup appointments, shuttle departures, vendor arrivals, or toast timing.
Use an Ordered List when the sequence matters, but exact times are not needed. This is best for things like processional order, grand entrance order, family photo groupings, or any moment where people simply need to know what happens first, second, third, and so on.
Adding a Breakdown to a Timeline Item
1) Open a project Timeline.
2) Find the Timeline Item where you want to add a Breakdown.
3) Click the Edit button to open the item's Advanced Editor.
4) Click Add Breakdown and select Timed Breakdown or Ordered List. In this example, we'll select Timed Breakdown.
5) The window will expand to reveal the breakdown editor.
How Timed Breakdowns Stay in Sync
Timed Breakdowns move with the timeline item they belong to.
For example, if Hair & Makeup Begins starts at 7:00 AM, you might have breakdown rows for the bride at 7:00 AM, the maid of honor at 8:00 AM, and final touch-ups at 9:30 AM.
If the overall hair and makeup start time changes, you do not need to rebuild the whole schedule. Just update the main timeline item, and Planpage will automatically adjust the breakdown times for you.
So if Hair & Makeup Begins moves from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM, the rest of the breakdown moves forward by 30 minutes too.
This makes it easier to fine-tune your timeline without accidentally leaving the detailed schedule behind.
