There are several common reasons a Plasma One card might be declined:
Funds are in Earn, not Cash
You can only spend from your Cash balance. If your money is in Earn, move it first: tap Earn β Move to Cash from the home screen.
Daily or monthly spending limit reached
Your daily limit resets at midnight UTC. You can increase your limit in Card Settings.
Merchant or category not supported Certain merchant categories and specific merchants aren't supported on Plasma One cards. This includes some gambling and other high-risk merchant types. Examples of restricted categories include tobacco and nicotine products, firearms and ammunition, gambling and betting services, drugs and pharmaceuticals (non-prescription or illegal), and adult content and related services. These restrictions are based on Merchant Category Codes (MCC), which classify businesses by the type of goods or services they provide. The card issuer uses MCC codes to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards and to mitigate risks associated with high-risk industries.
Too many rapid transactions
More than 2 transactions of the same type within 5 minutes may trigger a decline.
Too many transactions to the same merchant
Our card issuer will decline transactions if you've made more than 25 transactions to the same merchant within a 24-hour period. Wait 48 hours and this limit will reset automatically.
Incorrect CVV
Entering the wrong CVV 4 times within 24 hours will temporarily block the card.
Fuel or gaming transaction limits
Fuel transactions over $175 and single gaming transactions over $600 are automatically declined.
Card not yet activated
If your card hasn't been activated, it won't work at point of sale.
If none of these apply, tap the declined transaction in the app for more detail, or contact support.
