Let's go through step-by-step how to create a new importer or US consignee within the pCustoms Commercial Entities Module. Whether you’re setting up a new business entity or adding a consignee for compliance purposes, we walk through the necessary steps to ensure accurate and seamless data entry.
Step 1: Open the Commercial Entities module
You should click on the "Directory" drop-down in the left navigation bar:
And then click on "Commercial Entities":
Step 2: Go to the New Importer form
You need to open the form to create a new importer by clicking the button "New Importer or US Consignee" on the top:
Step 3: Fill out the form details:
Now it is time to fill out the form details to create your new importer or US consignee. You need to enter the following details:
Entity name (full legal name)
Entity type (corporation, LLC, partnership, etc.)
Address type (corporate office, retail location, warehouse, residence, etc.)
Primary address line (address line 1)
Supplementary address line (address line 2)
City
Country
Zip code (postal)
CBP importer identification type (EIN, SSN, or CAIN)
Contact person's full name
Contact person's date of birth
Phone number
Email
Step 4: Submit the form
Once you have filled out all the necessary details, click the "Submit" button at the bottom:
Then, once submitted, you will be redirected to the Commercial Entities module to see the entities you submitted in the table below:
Step 5: Review the details you submitted
Here, in the commercial entities module, you can filter through entities by any of the columns you have by clicking the button below:
Or sort by any of the columns in ascending or descending order by clicking the column name:
To double-check the information you entered, just lick the entity name to open the profile of the commercial entity you created:
The profile will be populated with the data you entered earlier to create the entity like the one below:
If later you want to change something, you can just click the "Edit" button at the bottom to make the form entries editable:
Make the necessary changes, and then click "Save" when you are ready:
