pCustoms comes preloaded with over 3,000 of the most commonly used carriers, making it easy to select a carrier for your customs filings. However, if you’re working with a carrier that is not listed, you may need to add their information and create a carrier profile to ensure seamless integration into your filing process. Let's explore this step-by-step guide on how to create a new carrier in pCustoms, allowing for accurate and efficient customs compliance.
Step 1: Go to the Carriers module
You need to click on the "Directory" drop-down at the left navigation bar:
Then, click on "Carriers":
Step 2: Open the new carrier form
You need to click the "New Carrier" button at the top right to open the form to add a new carrier:
Before adding a new carrier, you can search if the carrier with the carrier name or code (IATA/SCAC) you want already exists by filtering through the respective columns by clicking the filter button below:
You can also sort by column name in descending or ascending order by just clicking the respective column name:
Step 3: Fill out the form
Now, it's time to add the carrier details. You need to add the following data points:
Entity name (legal name)
Carrier type (sea, air, truck, etc.)
Carrier code (IATA/SCAC)
Once you are ready and have entered all the details, just click on the "Submit" button at the bottom:
Step 4: Verify the details you entered
When you click to submit, you will be redirected to the Carriers module, where you can see the carrier entity profile you created. You can first search:
Then, just click the entity name you created, like the one below, to open their profile:
You will see the carrier profile in the below format:
If you want to decide to change the carrier details, you can just click the "Edit" button at the bottom to make the form fields editable:
When you are ready and made the changes you want, just click on "Save":
Please note since carrier codes are reserved and are not changeable as they are international standards and are managed by IATA and NMFTA, in our system, you can only update the entity name. If you will need a carrier with another carrier code and type, just create a new entity.
Adding a new carrier in pCustoms ensures that you can seamlessly include carriers not already listed in the system for your customs filings. By navigating to the Carriers module, filling out the required details, and submitting the form, users can efficiently create and manage carrier profiles. The system also allows for easy review and updates of carrier entity names, ensuring accuracy while maintaining compliance with industry standards. If a carrier code or type needs modification, a new carrier entity must be created, as carrier codes are globally regulated.
