When you create student accounts on ubbu, each student is given a username automatically generated by the platform, made up of words and numbers. For security reasons, this name can't be edited directly, but as a teacher, you can generate a new one.
Generating a new username
To do this, just click the Class Management button, then the button shown in the image.
Click the Generate new username button, then Confirm.
Linking students' real names to their usernames
To make your experience as a teacher easier, ubbu also offers a feature that lets you link students' real names to their corresponding usernames, visible only to you.
To do this, click on a class and then the Student list button. Then click Add real names to my student list, in the top right corner.
You'll then see a list with each student's username in the class. To link a username to the matching real name, select a student and click Add.
We'll ask you to set a key. This key works like a password, and will keep your students' real names stored securely and encrypted, so don't forget it. Only you can access this data; it isn't stored on our servers.
Next, fill in the Student's real name field and click â to save the names.
You can also export a list in .csv format to check later. Click Export list (.csv), and a .csv file will be downloaded to your computer with a table of your students' names, as you set them.
When you go back to your classes, and other areas of the platform, you'll also be able to see students real names below their username.
If you switch computers, or simply stop seeing students' names, you'll see the option Why can't I see students real names? Clicking that button will prompt you for the key you set earlier.
If you happen to forget the key, click the Forgot your key? option to set the names again.
