At ubbu, it is important to distinguish between two key functions in activities carried out with students: to motivate and to assess.

What does scoring represent?

The main goal of the scoring system is to motivate students and present their progress over time.

Stars ( ⭐ ) work as a system of immediate feedback, giving the students a sense of their performance and encouraging them to keep learning.

In other words, scoring is a reflection of effort and practice, not a formal validation of learning.

How do we check student's knowledge?

At ubbu, there are already several ways to track progress and understand how learning is taking place. The metrics dashboard provides a clear and accessible overview of student progress.

Through the class metrics dashboard, teachers can:

  • See which exercises and quizzes have been completed (or not), and whether they were answered correctly;

  • View how many lessons, challenges and projects each student has completed;

  • Quickly identify who needs extra support and who is ready to move on;

  • Explore student's progress by topic (Computer Science, Sustainable Development, STEAM);

  • Propose extra challenges to more curious or advanced students.

This dashboard is especially useful for making informed pedagogical decisions, based on clear data, organised by lesson, challenge or project — all presented in a visual and intuitive way.

And in the future?

We are developing new features - the Gate Systems, which will allow a more direct check to confirm wether the topics students are learning have been truly understood. These checkpoints will help teachers consolidate learning and ensure that students are ready to proceed with confidence.

In summary

At ubbu, scoring plays an important role in motivating and following students progress but it doesn't replace formal assessment. With the future introduction of Gate Systems, ubbu will offer stronger tools to assess leaning rigourasly.

In the meantime, encourage your students to practice and explore, knowing that each ⭐ represents a step forward on their learning and that soon, we will have even more robust ways to follow this journey closely.
