Hello!
The ubbu badges are a fun way to recognise your students’ effort, celebrate achievements and reinforce engagement in learning.

Shall we take a look at how they work?

What are badges?

Badges are a visual reward system that students earn as they progress in ubbu.

They'll receive a badge, for example, if they complete a lesson or finish a curriculum but there is more!

Each badge highlights an important step in the learning journey, reinforcing the students’ sense of progress and achievement.

Why use badges?

✔️ Recognise individual effort.
✔️ Strengthen student motivation and engagement.
✔️ Link learning to real-world themes.
✔️ Make the experience more fun.

How do badges work?

Badges are awarded automatically based on specific goals, such as:

  • Completing lessons and challenges.

  • Finishing a curriculum.

  • Exploring different worlds in the platform.

  • Developing competences in the STEAM areas.

  • Learning about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The four categories of badges

The ubbu badges are organised into four main groups. Each one emphasises a different aspect of learning:

ubbu's world

As students advance they unlock new zones — like Ada City, Hopper City or the Turing Fields.

We assign these badges so that students feel they are part of a journey of discovery.

Curricular achievements

These are associated with student progress in the curriculum. For example, they'll receive a badge for the 1st lesson, or for completing curricula like Curriculum I, II or III.

STEAM areas

A way to highlight engagement in the STEAM areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

These badges help students see how they are developing competences in these domains.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Learning in ubbu is linked to real-world challenges therefore, students can receive badges tied to themes like equality, sustainability or climate action, aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the UN.

What's next?

This new system is already available on the platform.

Students can check the badges they’ve already earned via their profile on the platform. They simply have to click the highlighted symbol in the image and will be directed to the Badge page to see all that they have won so far.

You can take advantage of these achievements to:

  • Celebrate important milestones in class.

  • Encourage students to surpass themselves.

  • Promote discussions about the themes linked to the badges (for example, the SDGs).

If you have any doubts or would like suggestions on how to use the badges with your class, let us know!
