What is the Referral Program?
If you're already subscribed to a creator on Playbook, you can invite your friends to subscribe too — and earn a cash reward when they do.
You (the referrer) earn a cash reward when your friend becomes a paying member.
Your friend gets a discount (and potentially a free trial) making it easy for them to say yes.
It only takes a minute to share, and you're notified every step of the way.
The referrer experience, step by step
Find Your Referral Link
Open the Playbook app and go to your creator's page.
Look for the referral prompt at the top of the creator profile — you'll also find it on the post-workout screen or in your app Settings.
Tap 'Share invite link' to generate your unique referral link. This link is personal to you and tracks back to your account.
Share Your Link
Once your link is generated, a message is pre-filled with your name, your creator's name, and the current offer — so you don't have to write anything yourself.
You can share your link through:
SMS (text message)
Email
Messaging Apps (Whatsapp, Messenger etc.)
Just tap your preferred option from the share menu that pops up.
You can also copy the link — paste it anywhere you'd like, including social media or other apps.
Get Noticed - Your Friend Redeems the Link
You don't have to guess whether your referral worked — you'll get notified twice:
When your friend redeems your link and signs up.
When your reward is confirmed and earned — meaning their subscription payment has gone through and stuck (i.e., it wasn't refunded or reversed).
You will receive a notification right on the Playbook app as soon as your referral link gets some traction.
Once your friend signs up via your referral link, a relevant message will appear on the relevant section on the Playbook app.
View Your Rewards and Get Paid
You can tap on the 'My Rewards' button on the upper right corner of your Referral page to view all users that have made a purchase using your link and the amount of rewards earned.
Once your reward is confirmed, it's paid out automatically to your PayPal account — no need to request it or fill out any extra forms.
Behind the scenes, our referral partner, Cello, handles the payout process from start to finish, including any required tax reporting and identity verification. This all happens automatically once your reward is earned.
Make sure to click on 'Add payment details' to link your PayPal account and receive payouts for your earned rewards.
The referred friend's experience, step by step
You Receive a Referral Link
Tap on the referral link received by your friend and you will land directly on the creator's checkout page — not a generic Playbook page — with the discount already applied and visible.
You will see the offer clearly: The percentage % discount off your first month (or first year, if you choose annual), plus the option to start a 7-day free trial without losing the discount.
If you start with the free trial, the discount is preserved and applied automatically once the trial ends and your payment goes through.
You are prompted to download the Playbook app and are taken straight to your creator's page.
Enter your Playbook account email address to receive the login confirmation code.
Paste the 4 digit confirmation code sent to your email inbox.
Access your subscription and enjoy the content of your favorite creator.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much do I earn per referral?
Your reward is a percentage of your friend's first purchase, calculated on the full (non-discounted) price. The exact percentage and any cap depends on the creator you're referring for — check the referral prompt on your creator's page for your specific rate.
What does my friend get?
A 7-day free trial plus 20% off their first payment (monthly or annual).
Do I need a PayPal account to get paid?
Yes — rewards are paid out directly to PayPal, so make sure you have an account set up to receive your payment.
What if my friend cancels or gets a refund right away?
Your reward is only paid out once your friend's paid conversion "sticks" — meaning it wasn't refunded or reversed. If their payment doesn't go through or gets reversed, the reward won't be released.
Can I refer more than one friend?
Yes! There's no limit on how many friends you can refer — share your link with as many people as you'd like.
Does my friend need to use my exact link?
Yes — your friend needs to use your unique link (not a general search or the App Store) so the referral and discount are properly applied and tracked to your account.
