High-quality photos are essential for accurate 3D modeling, reporting, and review. To help ensure the best results when capturing photos with Plnar apps, follow the guidance below for lighting, angles, and overall capture quality.

3 Simple Steps

Step 1. Brighten up the space

Let in natural light by opening blinds or curtains, and turn on overhead lights whenever possible. A well-lit space helps reduce blur, glare, and shadows.

If the room is especially dark, don’t hesitate to use your phone’s flashlight, a handheld light, or even job site lighting to brighten the area as much as possible—the better the lighting, the better the photo quality.

Step 2. Relax and let it focus

It's just like taking regular photos— take a second before capturing and allow the camera to focus. This helps ensure your image is sharp and clear.

Step 3. Smooth and steady

Keep your device level and steady (avoid sudden movements) while capturing. A calm, deliberate motion reduces blur and helps the system generate accurate 3D results.

These three quick steps go a long way in capturing clear, usable photos!

Additional Photo Tips:

Clean the Camera Lens

  • Before starting your capture, wipe your lens with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints or dust. A clean lens ensures sharper images.

Avoid Harsh Shadows and Glare

  • Watch for light bouncing off shiny surfaces like mirrors or tiles.

  • Adjust your position to avoid casting shadows in the shot.

💡Pro Tip: For spaces with mirrors, glass, or obstructions, take a few extra photos from different angles.

Capture Clear, Well-Framed Shots

  • Stand far enough back to take floor to ceiling shots when possible

Review Photos Before Uploading

  • After capturing, review the image thumbnails.

  • If anything looks blurry, dark, or unclear, retake the photo using the same in-app flow.
