💡 Quick Tips! 💡

Separate Room - Capture smaller separate spaces as their own room. Stand outside and peer in to capture.

Attached Room - Capture the space as part of the room you're capturing.

  • When taking the corner photos of the primary room/area, include the corners of the small space and then continue capturing the remaining corners of the primary space.

  • Continue through the guided photo capture sequence, taking photos of both the primary area and smaller space.

Stairways:

At this time, Plnar does not model staircases, but you are certainly able to document the space with the app. Start the sequence at the bottom of the staircase and work your way up. No need to be perfect, just ensure you take quality photos for any applicable damage.

How to Capture Small Spaces

Scene Prep

Before capturing, the app needs to detect the floor. Brighten up the space and let as much light in as possible. Also be sure the camera lens is clean, no smudges 😊 - aim the camera at your feet and move the phone in a circular motion to help the app calibrate.

(Tip: Try calibrating outside the room if you aren't able to enter the room)

Step 1: Floor Corner Capture

Let's begin! Take photos of the floor corners (aka room perimeter). If needed, stand outside the space and aim through walls/obstacles to take the photo until you've captured all floor corners of the room.

Step 2: Detail Capture

Take photos of each structure. Capture doors and openings from outside the space. Cabinetry and bath fittings should be captured at multiple angles, and don't worry, it's okay if the entire structure cannot be captured within a single photo.

Step 3: Damage Capture

Take wide and close up angles of damaged areas / contents. Be sure to open cabinets and drawers to show damage to interiors and hardware components.

Step 4: Ceiling Capture

For ceiling capture, stand outside the space. Try taking floor to ceiling shots when possible.

Tip: Can't take floor to ceiling? Just snap the top of door / opening and ceiling seam

Step 5: Layout | Video Capture

Start from outside the space. Start the video and walk towards the space, stopping at entryway. Capture inside by panning left to right - No need for 360 within the space.

And that's it!

Once you've completed capturing all affected interior and exterior areas, feel free to use the "Submit Project" button. Be sure to hang around until you see the "All Done!" confirmation page which lets you know the project was successfully submitted.
