Follow these simple steps to ensure a smooth and successful process. Let’s get started!
A few tips before capturing:
•Ensure Proper Lighting: Make sure rooms are well-lit to help the app capture accurate details – Nature light is ideal
•Take Your Time | Capture Details: Move steadily around the room to ensure the app captures all necessary details such as cabinetry & specialty ceilings
•Take Clear Photos: Ensure photos are clear and focused
•Follow On-Screen Instructions: Be attentive to the app’s prompts and guidelines
•Check for Reflections: Be mindful of mirrors and reflective surfaces, as they can confuse the app. Adjust your angle if necessary.
How to Capture with Plnar Pro
Begin by Creating a project:
Projects can be created via Xactimate or CoreLogic if your account is provisioned with integration services. Check out this section to view articles on your project creation options. Once created, head over to the Plnar Pro app to begin.
Snap Project Fulfillment:
Once logged in, your Plnar Pro project should already be loaded into the app and in your Project List within the app. Find and select your project to begin. To fulfill a Plnar Snap project, enter the project code into the code entry screen in the Pro app. This will load the corresponding project onto your device.
Once loaded, tap the orange '+' button and select the area you'll be capturing:
Choose between:
Capture Interior | Room
Capture Exterior | Area
Add Extra Photos
Note: A project must include at least one Interior or Exterior capture in order to submit. The Add Extra Photos option is intended to supplement those captures by providing additional context—it's not a replacement for capturing a room or area.
Capture Interior | Room:
Start by telling us the room type, floor level, and include notes, if needed. Remember to capture each room individually (more rooms can be added later). Then click the next arrow to calibrate and begin.
Follow the app's guided flow of instructions to capture required data:
Capture Floor Corners: Focus on getting photos that show the bottom corners of the room—where the walls meet the floor—to help define the room’s layout. Avoid upper wall corners, as they don’t contribute to the floor plan and can slow down processing.
Tip: Stand about 5–7 feet back to ensure the floor corners are fully visible without being too close.
Capture a Layout Video: Provide a full-room overview, aiming for floor-to-ceiling shots whenever possible to maximize detail. (Scan the room)
Capture Damage (Optional): Take close-up and wide-angle shots of damaged areas.
Repeat these steps in each affected interior room.
💡Pro Tip: When capturing multiple rooms, keep doors open—this helps the app understand how rooms connect and improves accuracy when stitching them together in the floor plan.
Capture Exterior | Area:
Select the exterior area you wish to capture. (Additional areas can be added later) Each exterior area requires a minimum of 2 photos, except for Front of Property, which only accepts 1 photo.
Add Extra Photos:
Take a photo or Select from Photo Gallery to upload up to 100 additional photos to provide additional context.
Once you've completed capturing the space, use the orange "Submit Project" button to send in your documentation. Be sure to hang around until you see the "All Done!" confrimation page.
And that's it!
