How to solve PLO Trainer connection issues

I'm getting a connection or SSL related error message with PLO Trainer, how do I resolve this?

Connection Issue Error Messages

Ocasionally with our new UI some users get one of two error messages:

  • This site can't provide a secure connection. https://plo4.plomastermind.com/ send an invalid response.

  • Secure Connection Failed. Error code: SSL_ERROR_RX_RECORD_TOO_LONG

Please note these error messages are isolated to the new UI and aren't affecting the classic UI at this time.

General Troubleshooting

If you're seeing one of those error messages, there are a few quick things to try first:

  1. Try using Chrome (on Windows or Mac) or Safari (on Mac). PLO Trainer is optimized for those browsers and occasionally people experience issues using other browsers such as Firefox, Opera, and Brave.

  2. Clear your cache and cookies, sometimes a localized reset is all that it takes.

  3. Ensure your computer clock is accurate and make sure the "Set Time Automatically" is switched on.

If none of those steps resolved the issue, please continue below.

Advanced Troubleshooting

If the above steps didn't work to resolve the issue, more advanced troubleshooting may be required.

Please note that the majority of these issues arise from our USA based customers, specifically customers who are using Spectrum or Comcast as their internet service provider (ISP) due to a block on their end.

Spectrum Users:

  • Disabling "Security Shield" on the MySpectrum app is known to fix the issue.

There may be a similar app or setting for Comcast users as well.

Additional Steps:

  1. Whitelist the URL for the new UI to your firewall (https://plo4.plomastermind.com/) which will allow the connection to go through. Often it's a firewall issue that is blocking the site/connection.

  2. Use a VPN - as a last resort, you can try a VPN. This is known as a catch-all solution as this has resolved 100% of issues connecting to PLO Trainer so far.
