What is EV Loss?

I can see columns for EV loss inside the trainer, what does this mean?

If you are training with the PLO Trainer, you may have noticed 4 categories on the bottom of the training window - Hands, Acc (accuracy), EV Loss and Avg. EV Loss.

  • Hands: The total number of hands you have trained.

  • Acc (Accuracy): How accurate you are, displayed as a percentage. Calculated by taking the total number of hands trained and the number of hands that were incorrect.

  • EV Loss: This is the running total of how much EV has been lost with ALL hands trained so far. If a -EV action is taken during a hand, it will be added to this total EV loss score.

  • Avg. EV Loss: This is the running total of how much EV has been lost divided by the number of hands trained - to give an average of how much EV has been lost.

I trained several hands with +EV decisions, why haven't my EV Loss and Avg. EV Loss changed?

  • Only hands with -EV decisions are added to these totals

  • This makes it easier and simpler when trying to train and improve

  • The totals are for losses only - hands trained correctly with +EV decisions are not included in these calculations
