The ZIP Lock app block must be added and enabled in the checkout.
Incompatible Features
ZIP Lock is not compatible with the following features or checkout flows:
Stores not using Shopify Plus
Stores not using Shopify's Checkout Extensibility
3rd-party checkout solutions
Shopify POS
Shopify B2B Checkout
Accelerated or express payment methods (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay etc.)
Post-purchase upsells that bypass Shopify Checkout
Apps that add upsell products directly in checkout
Order editing outside of Shopify Checkout
Dynamic Product Rule Behavior
ZIP Lock rules are based on product sets or collections selected at setup. When products or collections are updated in your store (e.g. items added, changed, or removed), the app dynamically updates the rules in real time based on your store’s current data.
Note: ZIP Lock does not provide state history, logs, or change tracking for dynamic product rule updates. We recommend documenting changes to product or collection assignments separately if tracking is needed.
⚠️ Limitations & Best Practices
ZIP Lock is designed to work within Shopify Plus’s extensible checkout, but there are a few limitations to be aware of:
Checkout Resource Conflicts & Network-Related Failures
If a checkout resource conflict or network issue prevents the ZIP Lock app from loading, ZIP Lock default behavior is to allow the order to proceed. There is currently no fallback to block the order in these cases.
We recommend testing ZIP Lock after installing or updating any third-party checkout extensions. If needed, consider setting up a Shopify Flow or internal alert system as a backup safeguard to monitor for bypassed restricted orders.
