Adding ZIP Codes to a Rule

When creating a new rule with type ZIP Codes, the ZIP code editor will be shown at the bottom of the rule creation page:

There are two ways to add ZIP codes:

Manual Entry

  1. Click the Add new button in the top right of the ZIP code editor. This opens the following modal:

  2. From here, you can add ZIP codes by typing them out or by copy and pasting values from a spreadsheet row or column. When opting to type them out, adding a comma or pressing the “Enter” key after typing a ZIP code will cause the ZIP codes to appear like this:

  3. Clicking Save will save the ZIP codes to the rule and close the modal.

Note:

  • Duplicates will be automatically deleted.

  • If you need to add a large number of ZIP codes (3000 or more) we recommend using the spreadsheet upload method instead.

Uploading a Spreadsheet

  1. Click More actions at the top of the ZIP code editor then click the option Import from Spreadsheet. This will open the Upload ZIP Codes modal:

  2. To add a spreadsheet, you can either click Add file and select the file from your computer, or you can drag and drop the spreadsheet file into the Add file box. The importer accepts the following spreadsheet file types: .csv, .xlsx, .ods, and .xls.

  3. The spreadsheet data should have the following format:

  4. To download a spreadsheet file to use as a template, click the Sample CSV template link in the bottom left of the upload modal.

  5. Clicking the, “Replace all existing ZIP code values in this rule” checkbox will delete all ZIP codes from the rule which aren’t in the uploaded spreadsheet.

  6. To finish importing the spreadsheet, click Upload, which will import the data and close the upload modal.

Deleting ZIP Codes from a Rule

Once you have added some ZIP codes to your rule, the ZIP code editor should look like this:

To delete specific ZIP codes:

  1. Check the box next to the ZIP codes you wish to delete.

  2. Click the Delete ZIP codes button that appears at the top of the list (show below).

To delete a page of ZIP codes (i.e. the ZIP codes that are currently visible):

  1. Click the checkbox at the top of the list next to the text, “Showing x of y ZIP Codes”

  2. Click the Delete ZIP Codes button.

To delete all ZIP codes from a rule:

  1. Click the checkbox at the top of the list.

  2. Click the link at the bottom of the list that says, “Select all 12+ ZIP Codes in your store”.

  3. Click the Delete ZIP codes button at the top of the list.

Updating the ZIP Codes in a Rule

In many cases, updating the ZIP codes in a rule can be done by adding and/or deleting ZIP codes according to the procedures listed above. However, there are some cases, especially when many changes need to be made, where deleting and then adding ZIP codes is inefficient. Below we describe a few additional methods for updating the ZIP codes in a rule.

Replacing a Single ZIP Code

  1. Find the ZIP code in the ZIP code editor and click its row. This will open up the following modal:

  2. Type the new ZIP code into the text input and click Done, which will replace the old ZIP code (00601 in the screenshot) with the new one that you entered.

Updating Many ZIP Codes

In cases where a large number of changes need to be made, we recommend the following procedure:

  1. In the ZIP code editor, click More actions > Export as spreadsheet.

  2. The exported file should appear in the downloads section of your browser.

  3. Navigate to the exported spreadsheet on your computer and open it using your preferred spreadsheet editor (Microsoft Excel, Libre Office, Google Sheets, etc.).

  4. Make your desired changes to the spreadsheet data.

  5. In the ZIP code editor, click More actions > Import as spreadsheet.

  6. Drag the updated file into the Add file box.

  7. Check the box next to, “Replace all existing ZIP code values in this rule”.

  8. Click Upload.
