With Plug&Pay Ultimate you get access to the affiliate system. With this system, people can help you sell your products and in return receive a commission. But how exactly does that work? How is it tracked who sells which product for you?

Tracking with promotion links

In affiliate marketing software, unique promotion links (also known as affiliate links) are generated for your affiliates (sellers). They use their own links to sell your products.

When a buyer uses this affiliate link, a cookie is stored in their browser. When this buyer checks out your product, the affiliate is recognised via this cookie. The affiliate then receives a commission for this.

How this process works:

Most affiliate cookies have a limited lifespan. If for example nothing is purchased within 24 hours of clicking the affiliate link, the cookie expires. Other cookies remain active for a year, some even indefinitely. It then doesn't matter when the customer makes a purchase β€” you get paid regardless via the link. In Plug&Pay you can specify how long cookies remain 'alive' by going to Affiliates > Settings > Profiles.

When someone fills in a form via a promotion link, that affiliate is linked to the submission. If the same person then places an order within two weeks using the same email address, but no affiliate cookie is present at that moment, the affiliate from the original form submission is still linked to that order.
