What is the difference between "Sent" and "Delivered" under the email status?

The "Delivered" status represents the emails in which a confirmation of delivery was received from the recipient's email client after the email was sent. ย If it says "Sent," it may have been delivered, but there just wasn't a confirmation of that from the recipient's email client.
