This is Step 1 in our Creating and launching your community guide. Head over to the overview page to start at the beginning!

The first step to creating your community on Podia is to access the Community area, where you will give your community a name and activate this feature on your account.

Creating your community

  1. From the sidebar menu, click on Community and select Home.

In your dashboard, clicking on Community in the header will drop down a menu. From the dropdown, select Home, which is the first option.

  2. After you watch a quick overview video, give your community a name (don’t worry, you’ll be able to change it later) and activate it by clicking on Create community.

The page that appears will show a video message from Ben, walking you through the Community feature. Underneath, there is a spot to add your community's name, and a button to create your community.

  3. Now that you've activated your community area, a few things will be automatically created. Take some time to explore!

Your community homepage will show two default posts, topics, and plans.

    Here's what you'll see automatically:

    1. Introductory posts explaining how things work. You can delete this once you are ready to launch your community.

    2. A "General" & "Random" topic: Topics are a way to organize the content of your membership area. We will create two topics for you to get started. Feel free to modify these based on your needs.

    3. A free plan: A subscription plan is how people gain access to your community. We will create one free plan for you to get started.

Now that you've got your foundation in place, let's move forward with step 2: creating your subscription plans.
