Building an email list is crucial for your business, and utilizing Email Forms on your site pages can be a fantastic way to achieve this.

It's a give-and-take process - your audience gets to enjoy what you have to offer while you get their email addresses.

But... What if you wanted to tag those subscribers based on the forms they have used or even the pages they're coming from?

In this guide, we will walk you through tagging folks who subscribe via an email capture form on your site.

Adding an email capture form section to a site page

The first step is to add an email capture form to your site pages.

Email capture forms can be added to any pages, but the most common is adding them to your homepage or a custom page dedicated to capturing emails.

If you already have an email capture form, feel free to skip this section.

Here's how to add an email capture form to a site page:

  1. From your Podia dashboard, click on Website in the sidebar menu.

  2. Select Edit site.

  3. Navigate to the page you’d like to add an email form to, click “+” to add a new page section, and then choose "Email form" from the left-hand menu.

Tagging subscribers from a specific email form page section

Once an email form has been added to a site page, we'll need to tell Podia we want subscribers that subscribe through this email form to be tagged with specific/multiple tags.

Here's how to tag subscribers that subscribe through a specific email form on your site page:

  1. Click directly on the email form section to open up its options in the left-hand menu.

  2. Using the left-hand options menu, locate the Tag subscribers section.

You can add one or multiple tags if you'd like.

Once people subscribe using this specific email form on your site, they will be tagged with whatever tags you added here.

You should then be able to target them with email broadcasts or campaigns.

Different email forms can have different tags, so you can better organize subscribers and add different tags to multiple newsletters, pages, lead magnets, etc.

Best Practices

  • Maintain consistency when naming tags to prevent duplication.

  • Review and remove unused or outdated tags regularly.

  • Test form functionality and tag triggers th

FAQ

Can I add multiple tags to email capture forms?

Yes!

You can add one or multiple tags to email form page sections depending on how many tags you want to add to a particular subscriber after they subscribe through that specific Email Form.

Can different email capture forms have different tags?

They can!

You add different tags to different email form page sections.

This will allow you to better organize subscribers and tag subscribers based on page they're coming from, lead magnet offers you have, etc.

Is there a reason why my form tags are not working?

There might be instances where tags are not applied as intended. This could be due to issues such as the campaign being inactive, the proper tag not being set in the form configuration, the subscriber using a different form, or an unpublished latest site version.

If you notice issues, revisit your form settings to verify the correct tags are applied and ensure the site has the latest published version.
