A video thumbnail is the image people see before clicking the play button on your videos, and it appears directly inside the video player.
By default, Podia uses an automatic snapshot from your uploaded video, but you can upload a custom thumbnail if you prefer.
In this article, we'll show you how to upload a custom thumbnail to your videos.
Adding a custom thumbnail to your videos
You can add custom thumbnails to any videos you upload to Podia.
Here's how to add a custom thumbnail to your videos:
Locate the video you want to add a custom thumbnail to. Your video can be uploaded to an online course, community, etc.
Hover your mouse over the video player to bring up its editing options. Click on the Pencil (Edit) icon.
Once the Edit video popover opens, click on the Thumbnail field.
Select one of the upload options for your thumbnail image:
Choose files...: Choose a file from your media library
Upload from computer...: Upload a file directly from your computer
Search Unsplash...: Search Unsplash, a royalty-free image database
Once your file is uploaded, click Save to save your custom thumbnail.
Your custom thumbnail will automatically appear on the selected video.
Note: Even though your thumbnail will upload immediately, it could take up to a few minutes to process and show up on your video.
Adding a video thumbnail to your video page sections
Uploading a custom video thumbnail works a little bit differently in video page sections.
Here's how to add a custom video thumbnail to a video page section:
Access the Site Builder and add a video page section to any of your site pages.
Using the left-hand menu, upload a file from your computer or select one from your Media Library using the Thumbnail field.
Note: Even though your thumbnail will upload immediately, it could take up to a few minutes to process and show up on your video.

For example, if your video is 1080p, your thumbnail should be 1920 × 1080 px.
