The Polar MCP (Model Connection Protocol) has been updated to deliver a faster, more secure, and more flexible experience when connecting your Polar Analytics data to Claude, ChatGPT, or other AI tools.

If you previously installed the legacy MCP integration for Claude, you’ll need to migrate to the new Polar MCP setup to ensure continued access to your Polar data.

This guide explains:

  • Why the new MCP setup replaces the legacy configuration.

  • How to migrate to the latest version step by step.

  • What benefits and improvements you can expect from the new connection.

Why You Need to Migrate

The Legacy Setup (Before December 2024)

In the original integration, users connected Polar to Claude using a static configuration file hosted locally. This method required manual setup and did not automatically update with improvements or new features.

While functional, the legacy connection had a few limitations:

  • Manual configuration: Users needed to upload and manage their own .json configuration files.

  • Limited flexibility: The setup was tailored for Claude only, without broader MCP tool compatibility.

  • No auto-updates: New metrics, performance improvements, and security patches required reinstalling or reconfiguring.

The New MCP Connection

The new Polar MCP eliminates manual setup and provides a universal connection method compatible across all major MCP-supported AI tools, including Claude, ChatGPT, and future integrations.

Key improvements include:

  • Automatic updates: You’ll always have access to the latest metrics, definitions, and security patches.

  • Unified endpoint: One connection works across Claude, ChatGPT, and other supported tools.

  • Simplified installation: Connect in seconds using a single secure URL — no file uploads required.

  • Enhanced data security: Your credentials and data are encrypted end-to-end with enterprise-grade protocols.

Important: The legacy configuration will be deprecated soon. To maintain uninterrupted access, please migrate to the new setup following the steps below.

How to Migrate to the New MCP Setup

Migrating to the new Polar MCP setup only takes a few minutes. Follow these steps carefully:

Step 1: Remove the Legacy MCP Connection

  1. Open your Claude MCP settings.

  2. Locate the existing Polar (Legacy) connection.

  3. Click Remove or Delete to disconnect it.

  4. Restart Claude to ensure the removal takes effect.

(You can skip this step if you’ve never installed the legacy configuration.)

Step 2: Install the New Polar MCP

  1. In Claude, navigate to Settings → Tools → Add MCP Server.

  2. When prompted, enter the new Polar MCP endpoint:

    https://api.polaranalytics.com/mcp
  3. Authenticate using your Polar Analytics credentials (the same ones you use to log into your workspace).

  4. Once authenticated, Claude will automatically connect to your Polar workspace.

You’re done! Claude now uses the latest Polar MCP — with all metrics, reports, and security updates applied automatically.

Step 3: Test Your Connection

To confirm that everything is working:

  • Open Claude and type a test prompt such as:

“Connect to my Polar Analytics data and show me total revenue by channel for the last 30 days.”

  • If the MCP connection is configured correctly, Claude will respond with accurate, real-time data from your Polar workspace.

Benefits of the New MCP

Migrating to the new MCP connection ensures your analytics workflows remain reliable, secure, and future-proof.

1. Broader Compatibility

The new MCP setup isn’t limited to Claude — it also works with ChatGPT, Make, n8n, and any other AI tool supporting the Model Connection Protocol.

This unified structure means your team can use Polar data across multiple AI assistants and automation tools seamlessly.

2. Always Up-to-Date Metrics

Your MCP connection now syncs automatically with Polar’s semantic layer, ensuring that:

  • New metrics (like contribution margin or blended CAC) are instantly available.

  • Definitions and logic stay consistent with your Polar workspace.

  • No manual refresh or reinstallation is ever required.

3. Improved Security and Governance

The new connection uses Polar’s centralized authentication system, meaning:

  • No local configuration files are stored on your device.

  • All API requests are authenticated and encrypted.

  • Admins can manage access and visibility through your Polar workspace settings.

4. Simpler Troubleshooting and Support

Since all users now share a unified configuration, the Polar Care Team can diagnose and resolve any issues much faster.

If you encounter a connection error, reach out via the in-app chat — our team can identify the issue instantly using your workspace ID.

The new Polar MCP connection offers a faster, smarter, and more secure way to connect your data with Claude and other AI tools.

By migrating from the legacy configuration, you’ll gain:

  • Seamless compatibility across multiple platforms.

  • Automatic updates to metrics, definitions, and performance.

  • Stronger security with centralized authentication.

Migration takes less than five minutes — and ensures uninterrupted access to your Polar Analytics data through Claude or any other MCP-enabled assistant.
