As detailed on the GOV.UK website, employees are entitled to at least a 20 minute unpaid break, for every shift they work that's more than 6 hours in length.
Many businesses have their own policies that go beyond this and some even pay their employees for the breaks they take, which is absolutely fine, but whatever your Company Policy is, Polaris Data has an (optional) feature which takes away the process of having to manually insert breaks into employee shifts.
Polaris can insert a break (either paid or unpaid), of a length determined by your Policy to ensure this is recorded against each employee's rota session. This helps with accuracy of wage costs and as long as employee breaks are being managed on site, ensures you are adhering to current Government Regulations.
(Example above of Polaris Data inserting a break automatically when a rota session is added denoted by the black bar at the top of the rota session)
**PLEASE NOTE: We cannot enforce breaks to actually be taken, this responsibility will fall with the GM/Management teams at each venue, to ensure breaks are being actively given and if they're not (for whatever reason) that the automatically inserted break is removed (by editing the rota session) prior to end of week to ensure employees aren't wrongly underpaid, if your policy is to NOT pay your staff for the breaks they take.**
Please contact Support with your Break Policies if you'd like us to configure this for your Business.
