We connect different information types to form a complete picture of each legislator. The information contained within a profile includes:

Basic information

The basic information is a summary of the legislator, including picture, contact information, sessions served, committee memberships, and staff.

POLITICO News

All mentions of a legislator by POLITICO in the editorial coverage, this includes mentions in newsletters, articles, and alerts.

Legislator stats

Within the legislator overview we calculate and display three key stats about each legislator’s voting record—how often they are voting with their party, how often they vote with the majority, and how often they are in attendance to vote.

Similarity

Similarity is a vote analysis calculating how similarly the selected legislator votes compared to all of the other legislators. Legislator similarity can be filtered and viewed by committee, party, and country.

The left side of the screen indicates the legislator name and party affiliation, the right side of the screen lists the calculated similarity percentage. By default legislator similarity is displayed with the most similarly voting legislator appearing at the top, least similar at the bottom.

Legislator similarity is calculated using all recorded roll call votes and comparing vote overlap (ex: legislator Xs roll calls vs legislator Ys roll calls (where there's overlap), if they have voted on the same 10 votes and the same on 8 of them their score is 80%).

Rapporteurships

We list all current or former rapporteurships a particular on which legislator was involved. This includes both as a primary and shadow rapporteur.

Votes

A record of all votes taken by a given legislator, listed in chronological order. You can select a given vote and view within the context of the complete procedure/bill page.

Activities

A searchable record of all legislator activities, including speeches, parliamentary questions, and debates. We translate all activities to English from the original language, displaying both versions.

Amendments

Includes all tabled amendments by a legislator or group of legislators. You can select a given amendment and view within the context of the complete procedure/bill page.

Tweets

Includes tweets and retweets directly from legislators. To learn more about tweets in the platform click here.
