Every driver must have their driver's license verified to use our platform.
Trust is essential in the Poparide community, and verifying the identity of our drivers is vital in building and maintaining that trust. The verification process involves several steps to confirm that all drivers on our platform are genuine so everyone can feel confident and safe using Poparide.
Purpose of verification
Verifying driver's licenses helps to:
Ensure safety, trust and compliance with Poparide's Community Agreement
Minimize fraud and scams
Respond to, support, and investigate safety and security issues
How verification works
The verification process will be available before you approve a booking, and the Poparide app will guide you on what to do. To verify your driver's license, you'll need to:
Submit photos of the front and back of your driver's license
Take a live selfie of your face
The verification process takes a few minutes, and you'll receive a notification if it's approved.
Once your driver's license is approved, a verified badge will appear on your Poparide profile, trips, and in search results. |
Only drivers on Poparide must be verified, so passengers will not have a verification badge on their profile. If your driver's license expires or you create a new Poparide account, you must verify your license again to book trips on Poparide.
If your verification is rejected, you can ask for help from our Support Team or review our verification tips. You have three attempts to get verification.
Supported driver’s license types and countries
We support driver's licenses that are:
Not-expired
Not restricted due to unlawful behaviour
Not learner's or new licenses - Full driver’s license only
Plastic, credit card style
From any Canadian province, Canadian territory or US State
If your driver’s license is not from Canada or the US, we cannot guarantee that it will be verified.

Tips for getting verified
Update the Poparide app: Visit the App Store (iPhone) or the Play Store (Android) to make sure you’re using the latest version of the app.
Set up camera permissions: Check your browser or app settings for instructions on turning on permissions.
Use high-quality, well-lit photos: Take photos in a well-lit room, without glare, and check the photo to ensure it is not obscured and fits within the frame.
Take selfies in the moment: Your selfie must be taken at the moment of submission and not be a previous photo of you. Religious head coverings are welcome—but please make sure that we can see your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Use your original and in-date driver’s license: Make sure your driver’s license has not expired and is an original (no photocopies, PDFs or digital copies). Submit photos of the front and back of your driver’s license taken at the moment of submission.
What happens to my data?
Only authorized Poparide personnel and authorized third-party providers may access the information you submit, and all your information is stored and transmitted securely. We only share your identification information with authorized third-party service providers to verify and authenticate your documents.
We delete your driver’s license information after the prescribed retention period has elapsed—unless we’re legally required to retain it. Note that after your documents have been deleted, we continue to retain some information from them—such as your date of birth—for managing your account, legal compliance, and general security purposes.
