Voice Memos and Voice Input

Poppy has two ways to use your voice: record a voice memo that becomes an audio block on your board, or speak to a chat instead of typing.

Which one to use

Voice memo (left toolbar): creates an audio block with a transcript. You can connect it to any chat, now or later.

Chat microphone (inside the chat box): turns what you say into your prompt for that chat. No audio block is created.

Record a voice memo

  1. Click the microphone in the left toolbar (Start recording), or press R.

  2. Speak.

  3. Click the microphone again (Stop recording), or press R.

An audio block appears on your board with its transcript. Connect it to any chat to use it as a source. To copy the text, select the block and click Copy Transcript. The toolbar also has a download button.

Voice memos are a good way to show your brand voice. Instead of describing your tone, record yourself answering questions about your brand, audience and style, and connect the memo to your chat. Poppy detects the language you speak automatically.

Speak to a chat

  1. Click the microphone in the chat box.

  2. Speak, then click Send (or Stop).

What happens next depends on your chat settings:

  • Auto Send After Recording is on by default. With an empty chat box, your words are sent as a message when you stop.

  • If there is already text in the box, or Auto Send After Recording is off, your words are added to the box so you can edit them. Press the arrow to send.

  • Click the x to cancel a recording.

  • Turn on View Transcript When Recording to see your words as you speak.

If you see Microphone is disabled, allow microphone access for Poppy in your browser settings.

Add existing audio

Drag audio files onto your board, or press U to upload. Supported audio types are MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC and CAF. See Content Integration for all supported files.

Voice notes from your phone

  1. Record a voice memo or iMessage audio on your phone.

  2. Save it to your computer.

  3. Drag it onto your Poppy board.

It is transcribed and ready to connect to a chat.
