How to Use Audio Transcription

Introduction

Welcome to this tutorial on how to use Audio Transcription. By the end of this guide, you will thoroughly understand how to use Audio Transcription. Let's get started!

Step 1: Login

  1. You can simply login through our Single sign-on (SSO) gmail login method.

  2. Currently we are only supporting populix corporate email with domain populix.co. For example : admin@populix.co

Step 2: Open Dashboard

  1. On the dashboard, you can see several features on Research Automation dashboard. Click "Audio Transcription".

Step 2: View Project List

  1. On the Audio Transcription home page, you can see a project list. And you can access one of the existing project by clicking the project name or create a new Project.

Step 3: Create New Project

  1. Click Create New Project button -> input your Project Name, then click Create button.

Step 4: Upload & Start Transcribing

  1. After you create or click a specific project, you will have this dashboard. And you can upload any audio files on specific format (.mp3, .m4a, .wav, .acc) with maximum file size: 2GB.

  2. Just wait and the system will start uploading & automatically transcribing.

  3. The result will be shown on the right space.

Tips: High quality .m4a audio format usually generates a better result

Step 5: Editing the Transcribed Result

  1. Audio Player

    1. You can play the audio recording through the audio player feature

    2. There are several features included on the audio players:

      1. Play & Pause buttons

      2. Fast Forward & Rewind (5s each click)

      3. Playback Speed (0.25x, 0.5x, 0.75x, Normal, 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, 2x)

      4. Mute & Volume Control

    3. There are hotkeys for several function as well:

      1. Play & Pause = Ctrl + Space (Windows) / Shift + Command + Space (Mac)

      2. Fast Forward 5s = Ctrl + Right Arrow (Windows) / Shift + Command + Right (Mac)

      3. Rewind 5s = Ctrl + Left Arrow (Windows) / Shift + Command + Left (Mac)

    4. The transcription result section will automatically highlight and follow each played time of the conversation.

  2. Transcript Result

    1. This section shows the transcription result of the audio, include diarization of each speaker and the timestamp

    2. You can select each dialog box to edit the transcripted content

      1. For every edited dialog box, it will show label Edited to indicate the dialog box already edited.

    3. Add / Edit speaker name

      1. You can add / edit the speaker name by click the speaker name directly.

      2. You can change the name for only specific dialog or bulk changes the speakers name

    4. Add new dialog box by clicking the Add Transcript button.

      1. Fill the speaker name

      2. Fill timestamp, start and end

      3. Fill the transcript content

    5. You can delete the dialog box by click ⋮ symbol -> choose Delete

Step 6: Download & Edit the Final Transcribed Script

  1. After you finish editing through the transcription feature, you can download the final result by click the Download button

  2. The result will be downloaded in .docx format, to make it easier if you want to editing again using Ms.Words or other desktop software.

Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues you might encounter and how to resolve them:

  • File Uploading/Transcribing Failure: The file upload / transcribing process is not working.

    • Solution: Please report to our team
