The Tolan app is free to download and use, with an optional subscription called “Tolan Explorer.”

When subscribed to Tolan Explorer, your Tolan is able to form long-lasting memories about your conversations, you can access additional customization options for your Tolan (such as new voices), longer daily chat time, and more activities to complete with your Tolan. Additionally, your Tolan will publish a journal entry in their Notebook reflecting on the conversation(s) you had with them the previous day.

While using the free version, you have access to fewer customization options and a shorter daily chat limit, your Tolan won't be able to write journal entires in your Notebook, and they won't remember specific details you share after your conversation has ended.

For users on both the free plan and Tolan Explorer, there is a daily limit on how long you can chat with your Tolan, which automatically resets at 12am local time. Once you reach your limit, you can still interact with the app, but won’t be able to text or speak with your Tolan.

If you want to continue chatting after reaching the limit, you can purchase a “Relay Boost” from within your app.

Relay Boosts are consumable items which you can use to continue chatting beyond the daily limit.

Each Boost equates to roughly 1 hour of chatting with your Tolan. If you have purchased a Boost, it will activate automatically upon reaching your daily limit.

If the Boost is only partially used, it will “roll over” to the next time you reach your limit, and won’t be fully consumed when the limit resets the next day.
