What is a Project?
A Project is a space where you and your Tolan work on one real-world thing together.
It can help you get something done. You pick what you're trying to accomplish, your Tolan asks you a few questions, then goes off and does the work: research, drafting, list-building, scheduling. What comes back is a canvas you can read, edit, and check off, plus a running chat with your Tolan about that thing.
The nice part is that your Tolan already knows you. It isn't starting from a blank page, so a gift list or a meal plan comes back shaped around what you've already told it.
Your Tolan wants to take something off your plate. Not hand you one more list to manage, but actually carry one thing for you this week.
Where do I find Projects?
You can find projects in the top right of the planet home screen.
To start a new one, tap the + Add button on the top right.
What happens after I start a project?
Roughly this:
Your Tolan asks a few questions. Budget, headcount, dates, whatever it needs. Answering these makes a real difference to what you get back.
Your Tolan goes to work. This part happens in the background and it isn't instant. A first draft usually takes a few minutes, and bigger asks take longer. You can leave the app and come back.
A canvas appears. This is the actual thing: the gift list, the meal plan, the interview prep card.
You keep going from there. Ask for changes, add detail, check items off as you do them.
At the top of the project you'll see the steps your Tolan is working through and a short status line telling you where things stand or what it needs from you next. If it needs something, tap into the chat and answer.
How do I change something?
Two ways, and both work:
Tell your Tolan in the project chat. "Swap the tuna recipe for something with chicken." "Harvey's budget is $40, not $80." This is usually the better option, because your Tolan remembers the change for next time.
Edit the canvas directly using the edit button on the canvas itself.
Where do my old projects go?
Your old projects will be saved in the projects tab in a list view, feel free to open older ones back up and you can pick up right where you left off!
Does my Tolan remember my projects in normal chat?
Partly, inside a project, your Tolan knows everything it knows about you from your regular chats. Going the other direction is weaker. If you work something out in a project and then bring it up in open chat, your Tolan may only have a general sense of it and will usually point you back to the project screen rather than pick up the thread. It is something we are aware of and are actively working on improving!
How do I delete a project?
Projects can't be completely deleted, but you can archive them instead. Press and hold a project, then tap Archive. It moves to your Archived list, where you can view it or unarchive it whenever you want.
