App blocks are the actions available to customers on the order editing page, such as editing their shipping address, adding products, or cancelling an order.
By configuring these blocks, you can control which self-service actions customers can take - reducing the need for manual support while giving customers a faster way to resolve common order issues.
To get started, navigate to the App Blocks page and click Setup. From there, click Add option and select from the available blocks below:

Add products
Let customers add more products to an existing order.
You can choose to allow either all products, specific products, specific collections or products with specific tags only to be available to customers.
You can also exclude certain items from being available to customers based on the product name, collection or tags.
Change product options
Let customers swap an item for a different variant, such as a different size, colour, or style.
Change product quantity
Let customers adjust the quantities of products purchased in their order.
You can decide whether customers are allowed to decrease quantities. If disabled, customers can only increase the quantity of selected product.
Apply discount code
Allow customers to directly apply a discount code to their order after checkout.
Update contact details
Give customers the option to update their email address and phone number, ensuring they're kept in the loop on order-related notifications.
Switch payment method
Let customers change their preferred payment method on an existing order between a Shopify store credit, gift card, or a different debit/credit card. When selected, customers are redirected to the checkout page to re-submit their payment details.
Edit shipping address
Give customers the option to update their delivery address before their order is fulfilled. You can further decide whether PO Box addresses are permitted.
Cancel order
Allow customers to cancel eligible orders. You can choose whether to collect a cancellation reason to help understand why customers cancel and identify patterns.
Change shipping method
Let customers choose another available shipping method, in case they want to upgrade or change their delivery option after checkout.
You can decide which shipping methods can be updated after checkout by using either:
Exact match - Only allow the shipping method with the exact name you select to be updated. Choose from the shipping methods set up in your Shopify shipping profile.
Contains text - Allows any shipping method whose name includes the keyword(s) you enter (e.g. entering
Domesticwould match "Domestic Tracked", "Domestic Express", etc.).
Download invoice
Let customers download the invoice for their order. You can customise your brand logo, business address & tax information that appears on the invoice and preview before saving.
Arranging app blocks
After adding app blocks, you can arrange the order of the app blocks by dragging them into your preferred sequence in the Options panel.
Place the most important or commonly used actions near the top, such as editing shipping address or changing product options.
Customising app blocks
Under the Customise panel, you can customise the order editing section content, along with the titles & the button label of each individual app block.
Customising section content
Customise the text displayed in the header section of the order editing block to match your brand's voice. Click the Edit icon on the section to update the following fields:
Headline - the main heading customers see in the order editing block
Timer label - the text displayed alongside the countdown timer
Timer expire - the message shown when the editing window has closed

Customise the title and button label displayed inside each app block to match your brand's tone and provide clear direction to customers.
