Postcron gives you the option to have your URLs automatically shortened for posting. You can use an external service such as Bit.ly and Rebrand.ly or Postcron’s own shortener. And all of that for free.
You can set a shortener for each of your social accounts by clicking on Your Account (profile picture) and then going to the Social Accounts section. Then, find the social account you want to set the shortener on and click on the Preferences icon (gear).
Under the URL Shortener tab, select the link shortening service and enable the Always shorten links in this account option. You will notice that the switch will turn orange.
By enabling the option to always shorten your links, all the URLs will be shortened once the post is scheduled. On the composer, the URLs will always be shown extended.
You can connect your social accounts to external shortening services: Bit.ly and Rebrand.ly or even use the Postcron shortener. If you go with an external service, select which one and follow the steps to connect it to your social account. Make sure to check the Always shorten links in this account option If you’d like to have your URLs automatically shortened.
If you would like to change the shortening service, click on Disconnect and choose a new service.
When you attach an URL to the Composer to create your link type post you’ll see an extension with extra options. You can check your shortening preferences to all the social accounts you’re currently working on: if the switch is orange, the link will be shortened for this post and if it’s white, it won’t. You can change the behavior for this particular post by moving the switch. If you need to change the preferences for all posts, go to the URL preferences tab under Social Accounts.
Or click on the gear icon next to the switch. It will give you direct access to the URL shortening preferences for this social account.
You can see or hide the Composer extension by clicking the URL Shortener button.
