To remove and replace the SD card in a PS2 for firmware updates, system recovery, or diagnostics.

⚠️ Important Safety Notice:
This procedure involves access to internal electronics. Only perform when instructed by a technician. Always power off and unplug the machine first.

Prerequisites:

  • New or updated SD card (provided by Poursteady)

  • #2 Phillips screwdriver

  • Machine is powered off and unplugged

Main Process:

1. Power Down and Disconnect

  • Turn the power switch OFF

  • Unplug the machine from the wall outlet

2. Remove the Right Side Sheet Side

The SD card is located behind the electronics sheet side on the right-hand side.

  1. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the top cap screws

  2. Press in at the end plate seam, then slide the right side sheet end upward and off

  3. Place the panel and screws somewhere safe to not lose them

3. Locate and Replace the SD Card

  1. Locate the BeagleBone board (near the bottom rear corner inside the panel)

  2. Find the SD card slot (on the ride side of the board)

  3. Gently press the card in until you hear a click, then release to eject

  4. Remove the SD card and insert the new one

    • Make sure it’s fully seated and flush

    • Label should be facing inwards

4. Reassemble the Right Side Panel

  1. Align the right sheet end with the chassis

  2. Slide it down into position

  3. Reattach the top cap using the original screws

5. Reconnect and Power On

  1. Plug the machine back into the wall

  2. Turn on the power switch

  3. Allow the PS2 to boot and complete its homing sequence

Success Confirmation:

  • The machine boots successfully and displays the normal home screen

  • All recipes and settings load without error

  • No error messages or missing UI elements appear

Escalation:

  • If the machine does not boot:

    • Power off, reopen the panel, and verify SD card is fully inserted

    • Try a different card (if available) or reimage the card as instructed

  • If issues persist, initiate an Intercom support session with:

    • Serial number

    • Firmware version (if known)

    • Description of behavior at boot (e.g., black screen, stalled logo)
