Recognitions are the medium that you use to recognise, appreciate, or just to say thanks to your teammates.

How to give a Recognition

When you're on the Recognitions page, simply click on the "Recognise a teammate" button for a popup to show.

On the popup:

  1. Search for whichever teammate you would like to recognise in the search bar and add them to the list of Selected Teammates.

Tagging Suggestion: PraisePal recommends not tagging more than 10 people at once for better visibility on the feed. However, the system can support up to 99 people in a single recognition.

  2. Indicate how many points you'd like to give them. The points indicated here are per teammate.

  3. Type a message that you would like them to receive.

Parts of a Recognition

Recognitions are made up of a few parts:

  1. Giver: The person giving the recognition. Most of the time, that’s you! 👋

  2. Recipient(s): The person or people that you’re choosing to appreciate with this recognition.

  3. Points: The amount of points that you’re giving in the recognition. Note that the amount you indicate is multiplied by the number of recipients you choose.

  4. Message: The message that you’d like to send to the recipients. Read more about writing great recognitions.

  5. Company Value: If Company Values have been configured in your Workspace, you can attach company values to your recognition as well.

Each of these parts are required fields whenever you give a recognition. The exception to this is the company values field. Depending on the settings configured by your Workspace Admin, this can either be required or optional. Admins can read more about how to configure company values.

Different types of Recognition

There’re 2 types of recognition, Public and Private.

Public

These recognitions appear on a public feed in your company’s workspace once they are posted. Everybody in your workspace can see these recognitions.

Private

Private recognitions are private to only yourself and the chosen recipients of the recognition. These recognitions also do not appear in your Workspace's public feed.

Important: Workspace Admins will still be able to see private recognition.

The functionality to give private recognitions is not enabled by default and must be activated by a Workspace Admin. More information on enabling private recognitions can be found here.

To post a private recognition, simply click on the 🌎 privacy toggle beside the "Post" button in the recognition modal and select private when you’re posting your recognition.

Quick tips to writing great recognitions

  • It’s best to be precise about what they’ve done and why that made you give them recognition so that it’s clear!

  • Providing specificity and context not only adds sincerity and thoughtfulness to your recognition but also helps encourage behaviors you enjoy in your workplace. Collectively, this compounds and builds a better workplace culture for everyone to enjoy.

  • When a reason for giving recognition coincides with certain company values, attach a company value to the recognition to further emphasis positive behaviors!
