A datamodel is a template on what data attributes you would like to structure within a specific document type. A document type is for example a product, component, batch and so on.
Please note: These are data models for documents (products, components, packaging, etc.) and not a "Supply Chain Data Model" which is for suppliers and customers. This is a separate setting.
A document can have a lot of attributes, the data model dictates what attributes should be shown. You can always access all the data in the "Data" tab next to the "overview" tab on all documents.

How to attach a data model directly via the upload?
When uploading products (and components), you can attach a data model directly via the Excel/CSV upload. This is especially useful if you are uploading large quantities at a time and want to attach different data models to the uploaded products. To attach it via upload you will need to:
Your data model needs to exist before the upload.
In a column - add the names of the data models you want to attach to each product, on the line of each respective product.
Map the column you've created with the data model names, to the attribute called "Data model" when uploading.
How to change what data model a product uses
Go to the specific product. In the overview tab, find the field "Data model". This opens a pop up where you can choose the data model you want to use.
How to set a default datamodel for all
In "Data models" page, find the column called "Default". If you press on the slider, it will add this data model to all of your existing documents of a specific type, except for those documents that already have a data model, and dont worry you will keep the existing attributes on the product, they will not be overwritten.
How to view the completeness of a data model?
Find the preferred document for example products. In the column "Completeness" you can se the completeness score of each product. Based on the data model applied to that product.
Which data points cannot be added to a data model?
You can basically add all data points to a data model, however, there are a few exceptions with the following:
Name. The name is not a data point and must be changed by clicking the three buttons next to the name. Can also be updated via excel upload.
Supplier. A supplier link is made on the overview page and is not in a data point.
Relations in general. All relations between documents (products, components, packaging, etc.) are made on the overview page and are not in a data point.
