Result page texts

Customize the default messages shown on search and collection result pages—including when no products are found.

Updated this week

You’ll find this under Configuration > Search & collection pages > Result page texts.

Search page display texts

Set up the messages shoppers see when they search your store:

  • Search result page message — Shown when results are found
    Example:
    Showing 24 results

  • No results message — Shown when no results match the search
    Example:
Sorry, no matches found. Try another search.

Search page texts can be customized with the help of dynamic variables

Collection page display texts

Control the messages shoppers see on collection pages:

  • Collection result page message — Text shown when products are available
    Example:
    24 products found

  • Empty collection message — Shown when a collection has no products
    Example:
No results found in this collection.

Collection page texts can be set separately for maximum flexibility

Dynamic variables

You can insert variables into your result messages to personalize them automatically:

Variable

What it does

%pattern%

Returns the search term used

%totalcount%

Returns the total number of products found

%start%

Returns the position of the first product on page

%end%

Returns the position of the last product on page

This guide can be accessed from the link at the bottom of this page

Examples of using dynamic variables

You can mix and match these variables to create dynamic messages like:

  • Showing %start%–%end% of %totalcount% results for "%pattern%"

  • Found %totalcount% items for "%pattern%"

Here’s how they’ll appear to shoppers:

  • Showing 1–24 of 120 results for "sneakers"

  • Found 57 items for "black dress"

Use these to keep your store messaging clear and helpful—without writing custom messages for each case.
