Multi-language & multi-store setup

Manage multiple languages for your Prefixbox search & filter UI—all inside your Shopify admin.

Updated this week

Language settings

Prefixbox supports multiple languages so everything search related can be localized for your shoppers.

Language settings can be found under Configuration > General (tab) > Languages

After opening the language settings, you’ll see all added languages listed

Add a new language

To make Prefixbox display texts available in multiple languages, you first need to publish those languages in your Shopify admin. Once that’s done, you can add them by clicking the Add language button.

⚠️ Important: You’ll only see languages here that have already been published in Shopify > Settings > Languages. If all published Shopify languages have already been added to Prefixbox, you won’t be able to add more.

If no more published languages are available, the dropdown selector will be disabled.

Customize texts for each language

After setup is complete, you’ll be able to fully customize the display texts for that language.

To edit:

  1. Select Actions > Edit display text for the language you want to customize.

  2. Use the tab navigation to switch between modules (Filters, Search results, Autocomplete, etc.).

  3. Edit each label to match the tone and terminology of your store’s locale.

To open the display text editor, use the “Actions” dropdown and select “Edit display text”

Once inside, you can customize filters, sorting options, placeholder texts, labels, and more—tailored to each language.

Use the tabs to customize different surfaces like Filters, Autocomplete, and Search results

💡Hint: You can preview the text changes right inside the same view before saving.

Multi-market, multi-store & currency support

Prefixbox works seamlessly in multi-market and multi-store setups.

Multi-market & multi-store support

For multi-market support, make sure Prefixbox has the right permissions under Catalog settings. Once granted, search results will automatically follow the selected country from your storefront’s country selector.

In multi-store configurations, the behavior is similar—Prefixbox shows results based on the inventory of the selected store or region.

Once enabled, Prefixbox automatically aligns with your store’s selected market or region

⚠️ Important: You don’t need to configure anything manually inside Prefixbox—just provide the correct permission for multiple store access and you’re good to go.

Using multiple currencies

Currencies are configured directly in Shopify settings. Prefixbox automatically displays prices using the correct format on product cards and in filters.

The currency selector itself is managed by Shopify—not Prefixbox. Prefixbox simply responds to the active currency.

💡Hint: No additional action is needed to enable Prefixbox to use multiple currencies.

How this works for shoppers

Prefixbox automatically shows the correct language based on the storefront language selected by the shopper. This ensures a seamless, localized experience on search and collection pages—no additional setup required from your side.
