How to cancel a lesson

Cancel a scheduled lesson and understand how it affects your balance.

Updated this week

If your plans change and you don’t want to move the lesson to a new time, you can cancel it directly from your account. This article explains how cancellation works and what happens to your lesson balance.

Before you cancel

You can cancel a lesson if:

  • The lesson is scheduled in your calendar.

  • The lesson hasn’t started yet.

Whether the lesson returns to your balance depends on timing:

  • More than 12 hours before the start time → the lesson returns to your balance.

  • Less than 12 hours before the start time → the lesson does not return to your balance.

The 12-hour window is based on the lesson start time shown in your account.

What happens after cancellation

If you canceled 12 hours or more before the lesson

  • The lesson is removed from your calendar.

  • The lesson returns to your balance with that tutor.

  • The tutor is not paid.

If you canceled less than 12 hours before the lesson

  • The lesson appears in Past as Cancelled and Paid.

  • The lesson does not return to your balance.

  • The tutor is paid because the time was reserved in their calendar.

For full details about timing rules, see Cancellation policy.

Weekly lessons

If the lesson is part of a weekly setup:

  • Canceling one lesson does not stop the recurring schedule.

  • Future weekly lessons remain scheduled.

If you want to stop recurring weekly lessons, cancel your weekly setup instead. See How to change or stop your weekly lesson setup.

If you cancel a reserved weekly time slot (not yet scheduled), the reservation is removed and nothing is deducted from your balance.

Trial lessons

Trial lessons follow the same 12-hour cancellation rule as regular lessons.

  • If you cancel 12 hours or more before the lesson starts, the trial returns to your balance. You can reschedule it with the same tutor or use it to book a trial with a different tutor.

  • If you cancel less than 12 hours before the lesson starts, the trial does not return to your balance.

Good to know

  • Once a lesson is confirmed and marked as Paid, it cannot be canceled.

  • If the lesson has already taken place and something didn’t go as planned, report an issue instead.
