How to Delete or Deactivate Your User Account

Learn how to remove your PreprLabs user account.

This article details how to delete your user account from PreprLabs.

Start by clicking on your profile image in the Top Navigation Bar. In the menu that pops out, select Settings. This will take you to the Settings page.

Navigate to the Privacy tab on this page. Scroll down and choose any of the following options from the Account dropdown:

  • Active: This keeps your account active.

  • Inactive: This makes your account invisible to other users, but retains your data. You can reactivate your account by contacting the PreprLabs team.

  • Delete: This removes your account entirely, and deletes your data on-platform. This action cannot be reversed!

Choose an option that suits your needs, and select Save Privacy Changes.

Precautions

Deleting your profile does not delete any Organizations you have created. This has two key implications:

  1. Billing will continue to be managed through the email address you provided to create your Organization. If you want your Organization's billing to be switched to a new address, contact us through Intercom messages.

  2. If you are the sole Organization Admin Manager of an Organization on PreprLabs, deleting your account will prevent that Organization from being administered further. To prevent this, make sure you set a trusted team member as Organization Admin Manager before you delete your account.
