As a manager, it is important to be able to answer questions for your members so that if they require your assistance in any way, you are able to help.

Signing Up

In order to sign up for PreprLabs, your members first need to click the sign up button in the top right corner of the PreprLabs.org home page. They will then proceed to complete the information form on the right side of the registration page. Once this information is complete, all they need to do is click the register button on the bottom of the form.

Browsing Labs and Challenges

On the PreprLabs platform there are several different ways your members can search out relevant or interesting Labs and Challenges. A good first step is to follow tags you’re interested in on your profile in order to see recommendations on the Explore page. Also, at the top of the Challenges page, there is the option to explore Challenges and see Challenges you have followed or have submitted work to. You can also use the search bar at the top of the platform to find more specific Labs, Challenges, and Projects.

Joining Challenges

When exploring the platform, your members may decide they would like to participate in one or more Challenge. If they would like to come back to any of these Challenges later, they simply need to click ‘Follow’, if they are ready to begin working now, then they can click ‘Start Challenge’. This will prompt them to create a Project. They can then begin to fill out their Project, saving as they go. Once the project is complete they can submit!

How to Create and Submit a Project

If your members would like to create a new project, they can select ‘Projects”, under the drop down menu. In the top right hand corner of their Projects page, they can click ‘Create Project’ and begin to build out their work. On this page they need to fill in all relevant information, including the related Lab or Challenge and they will need to dictate whether or not this is an independent Project or if they are welcoming or inviting team members. They should also title their Project and choose a relevant image to support their work. When complete, they simply need to click ‘Create’.

On this next page, they need to be sure to fill out all of the pitch tasks and attach all relevant documentation including file uploads, photos, videos, links, and screenshots. They can always return to this page, they just need to remember to hit ‘save’ whenever they have added new material. When they are confident that all of their work, and the work of their team members, is ready for submission they can proceed.

To submit their project, they need to select their Challenge and then click ‘submit’. After agreeing to the licensing terms, they can select the relevant project and click submit!

Accessing Resources

In order to access resources on the PreprLabs platform, your members will need to go to the drop down menu at the top left corner of the page and then click ‘Resources’. On this page they can scroll through all available resources; to view these in more detail, they can click the button in the bottom right corner of the resource. Here, they can see all of the included content in full, including written documents and videos.

Resources may also be linked to the Challenges and Labs they’re participating in and can be accessed there.
