Setting Up Rate Shopper

How to add, remove, or update competitors in your Rate Shopper, what makes a good competitor to include, and how Rate Shopper fits into Pricepoint's pricing approach.

While Pricepoint does not rely on competitors to create pricing strategies, as explained here it includes a built-in Rate Shopper feature. This tool provides visibility into the prices of selected competitors, offering valuable market insights.

How does Rate Shopper work?

  • The Rate Shopper is not real-time; competitor prices are scanned at varying frequencies depending on the booking window.

  • This feature is designed to provide reference points rather than influence Pricepoint’s independent, AI-driven pricing strategy.

How Do I Add or Remove Competitors?

Competitors can't be added or removed from your account directly. Our Customer Support Team makes all competitor changes for you.

To request a change, contact our Customer Support Team and let them know which competitors you'd like to add or remove.

What makes a good competitor?

A good competitor is similar to your property in location, property type, guest segment, and price positioning. Avoid including properties that are much larger, more luxurious, in a different area, or targeting a different guest segment, unless there's a clear reason. Most properties track 5 to 7 of their closest competitors.

What happens after I request a change?

Once a new competitor is added, it needs to be scanned before its prices appear, so it can take a little time to show up in your Rate Shopper or market view. If you still don't see a competitor's prices, contact our Customer Support Team.
