Most paper jams are straightforward mechanical problems. The following illustration shows where paper jams can occur along the paper path:

Clearing Paper Jams in Trays 1 and 2:

  • Grasp both sides of the Bypass Tray, then pull it straight out of the printer

  • Pull out Tray 1 and/or Tray 2 until it stops

  • To remove the tray, lift the front of it slightly, then pull it out of the printer

  • Remove the jammed paper

  • Remove any crumpled paper from the tray and any remaining paper jammed in the printer

  • Insert Tray 1 and/or 2 into the printer, then push it in all the way

  • Insert the Bypass Tray completely into the printer

Clearing Paper Jams from the Fuser Area:

  • Push down on the rear door release and pull open the door

  • If paper is jammed in the Fuser, raise both green levers to open the Fuser

  • To open the paper guide, raise the green handle

  • Remove any jammed paper from the back of the printer

  • Close the paper guide on the Fuser

  • Lower the green levers to their original position

  • Close the rear door
