Filming Weeks

We've just introduced a powerful new way to analyze production activity with 'Filming Weeks'.

What it is: The new 'Filming Weeks' field calculates the weeks between the start of principal photography and the start of wrap.

Why it matters: This new field allows you to answer important questions such as "How many productions are actively filming this quarter compared to last year?" You can look at this activity by all our existing dimensions, including locations, budget tiers, show types, and more.

Here's an illustrated example of this calculated field:

Production Title: "ABBOTT ELEMENTARY - Season 3"

Principal Photography Start: "2024-01-03"

Wrap Date: "2024-04-10"

# of Filming Weeks: 15

Filming Weeks: ["2024-W01", "2024-W02", "2024-W03", "2024-W04", "2024-W05", "2024-W06", "2024-W07", "2024-W08", "2024-W09", "2024-W10", "2024-W11", "2024-W12", "2024-W13", "2024-W14", "2024-W15"]

Month of Filming: [1,2,3,4]

Quarter of Filming: [Q1, Q2]

Year of Filming: 2024

You can find the new calculated fields in the Report Builder.

In addition to measuring the unique count of productions, we provided a new way to calculate estimated production spend over a period of time.

'Weekly Production Spend': is the 'Total Production Budget' divided by the '# of Filming Weeks'.

'Location Weekly Spend': is the total location budget divided by the # of filming weeks.

Report Library

We've also created new template reports in the Report Library to get you started with the new calculated fields in the 'Filming Activity' folder. Here are a few of our favorites:
