Invoice Total Rounding Options

When you create invoices, you might sometimes notice that the total amount differs by a few cents compared to the sum of all line items.

This isn’t an error. It’s caused by different ways taxes and totals can be rounded during calculation.

The Invoice Rounding Methods setting lets you choose how Productive calculates totals, so your invoices match your accounting tools or preferred process.

Where to Adjust

Go to Settings > Invoicing > Rounding Methods.

πŸ“Œ This setting is visible to Admins only (under the Administrate organization permission).

Rounding Options

1) Per line item (default)

  • Tax is calculated and rounded on each line item separately, then all results are summed.

  • Gives the most accurate rounding per item, but the final total may differ by a few cents.

2) Per subtotal

  • Tax is calculated on the subtotal for each tax rate, then all subtotals are added.

  • Often aligns better with external accounting tools and simplifies reconciliation.
