The org-wide Slack integration allows your team to connect Productive to Slack so that messages, task previews, and automated updates are visible to everyone in the channel.
Unlike individual-level integration, this integration lets team-level actions (like task previews, Pulse reports, and automation messages) appear in Slack channels without depending on who created the task or triggered the action.
What You Can Do with Org-Wide Integration
Once activated, your team can:
See task previews in Slack threads for all members
Tasks created in Productive appear in the channel as enriched messages, providing everyone with relevant task information.
Receive Pulse reports in channels
Pulse reports are delivered directly to Slack channels where they can be accessed by the team.
Receive automated messages from Productive actions
Notifications triggered by automation rules appear in Slack for the entire channel.
📌 Task creation still relies on the individual Slack integration, but with the org-wide integration, the created task’s preview is visible to all channel members.
Connecting Org-Wide Slack Integration
To set up the integration, follow these steps:
Go to App Marketplace in Productive.
Search for Slack and Select Org-Wide Slack Integration.
Click Connect and approve the connection in Slack by clicking Allow when prompted.
Productive will now appear in the Slack Apps list.
Inviting Productive to Channels
To ensure that messages are delivered correctly:
Channels that will receive Pulse reports or files must have Productive added manually.
Task previews and automated messages usually do not require adding Productive to public channels.
For private channels, Productive must be added before the channel appears in the Slack action menu.
📌 Any channel member can invite Productive by typing @Productive in the channel chat and selecting Add them.
📌 You can also use the /invite shortcut. Type /invite @Productive to automatically add Productive to the channel you're in.
How Org-Wide Integration Differs from Personal-Level Integration
Org-wide Slack integration focuses on team-level messaging, where actions appear in Slack for all channel members.
Personal Slack connections, on the other hand, are tied to individual notifications, quick replies, task creation, and private task previews.
