Resource Request Permissions, Notifications, and Subscribers (Beta)

Understand who can create, resolve, and follow resource requests, and how notifications and subscribers work.

Updated this week

Permissions Overview

Resource requests in Productive are controlled by dedicated permissions, letting you decide who can see, create, and resolve requests.

You can use default system permission sets or create custom sets to match your team’s workflow.

Resource Requests are available on the Ultimate subscription plan.

πŸ“Œ Note: Resource requests must be enabled in Settings > Resourcing before they can be used.

1) Viewing Resource Requests

The View resource requests permission lets users access the Resource Requests tab in budgets and deals. Users with this permission can open requests to see the details, but they cannot edit them.

πŸ“Œ This permission is essential if someone needs to track requests without actively managing them.

By default, this permission is granted to:

  • Admins

  • Profitability Managers

  • Managers

  • Coordinators

2) Requesting Resources

The Request resource permission allows users to:

By default, this permission is granted to:

  • Admins

  • Profitability Managers

  • Managers

  • Coordinators

πŸ“Œ Good to know: Only the person who created a request can edit it. All other users with view access will see the request in read-only mode.

3) Resolving Resource Requests

The Resolve resource requests permission is for users who manage and allocate resources. It allows them to:

By default, this permission is granted to Admins and Profitability Managers.

Subscriber Behavior

Subscribers follow the same logic as task subscriptions. A user automatically becomes a subscriber when:

  • They create the request

  • They comment on the request

  • They are mentioned in a comment

Subscribers can also be manually added or removed. Being a subscriber ensures you receive updates and stay in the loop on all activity related to that request.

Notifications

Resource requests introduce a dedicated notification set:

  • Request created: Sent to users who can resolve requests

  • Request updated: Sent to all subscribers

  • Mentioned in comment: Sent to the mentioned user

  • Comment added: Sent to all subscribers

  • Request resolved: Sent to all subscribers

πŸ“Œ Each type can be turned on or off in Notification Settings, giving your team full control over which updates they receive.
