How to Set the Deal Value

Control how a deal's value is calculated: automatically from services or set manually, and understand how it affects projected revenue in reports.

Deal value is the monetary figure that represents what you expect to earn from a deal.

By default, deal value is calculated automatically from the services you add. You can also set it manually, which is useful when the agreed commercial value differs from the internal service breakdown.

Accessing Deal Value Settings

The deal value is displayed in the deal header, next to the Won and Lost buttons.

To configure how it's calculated, click the gear icon ⚙️ next to the value. This opens the Deal settings window, where you can manage both the deal value source and, for retainer deals, the deal type and period settings.

Calculated from Services

This is the default option. The deal value equals the sum of all services on the deal and updates automatically as you add, edit, or remove services.

Use this when your quoted price and your service breakdown are the same — the deal value stays in sync without any manual input.

Manual Deal Value

Select Manual entry to enter a fixed deal value yourself. This value won't change when services are updated — unless you confirm it when prompted.

Use manual deal value when the contracted amount is fixed and your internal scoping may still change. For example, on fixed-price engagements where the service breakdown is being refined.

📌 If you set a manual deal value without adding services, the value is preserved on the deal. However, if you win the deal and create a budget, it will have no services, revenue, or cost tracking. You'll need to add services to the budget manually after creation.

Deal Value on Retainer Deals

On retainer deals, the deal value can be entered as a Total or Per period amount. Switch between them using the dropdown next to the value field (available both during deal creation and in the ⚙️ Deal settings modal).

  • Per period: enter the value for a single period (e.g., $15,000/month). The total is calculated automatically as per period × number of periods (e.g., $90,000 over 6 months).

  • Total: enter the full contract value (e.g., $90,000). The per-period amount is calculated automatically.

Deal Value When Creating a Deal

The deal creation wizard includes a Deal value field in the deal data step. Leave it empty to calculate from services, or enter a value to set it manually from the start.

Deal Value in Reports

In the Deals report, the Budget Total column reflects the deal value source:

  • Manual entry → shows the manually set deal value.

  • Calculated from services → shows the sum of services as usual.

📌 Use the Total Budget from Services column alongside Budget Total if you need to compare both values.

Copying a Deal

When you duplicate a deal, the deal value settings (source and value) carry over automatically.
