Set Up for Sending Invoices via SDI (Beta)

See which fields are required to send invoices via SDI for Italy, including subsidiary, company, and Tax ID details.

If your organization sends invoices from an Italian subsidiary via the SDI network, you can configure your Productive account to send SDI-compliant e-invoices.

This guide covers the initial SDI setup, including required subsidiary and client details.

👉 Once everything is in place, you'll be able to send invoices through SDI.

📌 SDI currently supports sending invoices between Italian companies only (IT to IT), for business clients.

SDI e-invoicing is currently in Beta and is being rolled out gradually. If you're interested in testing it, reach out to us via in-app chat to have it enabled for your account.

Good to Know: Limitations by Plan

There is a monthly limit on the number of invoices you can send via SDI, based on your plan:

  • Essential Plan: 10 invoices

  • Professional Plan: 50 invoices

  • Ultimate Plan: 100 invoices

You'll see the transaction counter in Settings > Invoicing > E-Invoicing and when selecting Send to client > Send e-invoice.

Prerequisites

Subsidiary country: E-invoicing is configured per subsidiary.

Only subsidiaries based in Italy can send invoices via SDI. Check your subsidiary in Settings > Company Info > Subsidiary.

Bank Account Settings

Bank account information is required for SDI invoices. To set up your bank account:

  • Go to Settings > Company Info > Bank Accounts.

  • Fill in the details and select Save Account.

📌 Under Settings > Company Info, select a subsidiary and pick a default bank account for it. This will prefill the Pay to information on invoices any time you bill from the selected subsidiary.

E-Invoicing Settings

To enable SDI e-invoicing:

  • Go to Settings > Invoicing > E-Invoicing.

  • Select the appropriate Subsidiary.

Enter the following fields:

  • Tax ID: Your subsidiary's Italian Tax ID.

  • Payment Means: Choose Credit Transfer or Credit Transfer (SEPA). A standard credit transfer can move any currency between any banks worldwide, while SEPA is restricted to euros and only works between banks in SEPA-participating countries (the EU, plus a few others like the UK and Switzerland). Choose the option that matches how your client will actually pay.

  • Street, City, ZIP/Postcode, and State/County.

Click Finish Setup to save.

Client Company (Invoice Recipient) Settings

To configure your client's details for SDI invoicing:

  1. Go to CRM > Companies.

  2. Select the relevant client company and add the following:

  • Full Company Name

  • Tax ID: The client's Italian Tax ID.

  • Address

📌 Recommended: Add the Subsidiary, Tax Rate, Payment Terms, and Invoice Template to the client profile to pre-fill this information when creating new invoices.

Under E-Invoicing Information, add the SDI Code: a 7-character alphanumeric code that identifies the recipient on the SDI network.

📌 Ask your client for their SDI code before sending. If it's missing or entered incorrectly, SDI will reject the invoice.

👉 Once your subsidiary and client details are in place, you're ready to send invoices via SDI.
