With Dictate message, you can speak instead of typing across Productive: in the AI Assistant, Docs, tasks, and comments.
Start dictation, and the AI transcribes your speech into text so you can review it before you send or save it.
š To use Dictate message, Productive AI must be turned on. Transcription uses your organization's AI credits.
š Productive automatically detects the language you speak. Transcription may not be perfectly accurate, so review the text before you send or save it.
How It Works
Dictation works the same way everywhere you use it:
Click the microphone.
The first time, allow your browser to use the microphone when prompted.
Speak. Recordings can be up to 10 minutes long.
When you're done, click ā to stop and transcribe, or ā to discard the recording.
Your speech is transcribed and added for you to review and edit before you send or save it.
š Dictation never sends or saves automatically. You always review the transcribed text first.
Where It's Available
In the AI Assistant
The microphone is in the chat input. Your transcribed speech is added to the message so you can review and edit it before sending.
š For more on the AI Assistant, see Working With AI Assistant.
In Docs
Start dictation from the editor commands: type "/" in the editor and choose the dictation command. Your transcribed speech is inserted at your cursor.
š For more on editor commands, see Text Editing in Docs.
In Tasks, Comments, and Other Fields
Dictation is available in Productive's rich text editor, so you can use it in task descriptions, comments, and other places you write.
Click the microphone in the field, and your transcribed speech appears there, ready to review and edit before you save or post it.
Microphone Permission
Talk to Type needs access to your microphone. Your browser will ask for permission the first time you use it.
You can change microphone access later in your browser settings.
ā
š In Safari, you'll be asked for microphone permission each time you use dictation. To allow it permanently, set the microphone to Allow for Productive in your Safari website settings.
